A lot of youth in Miami live in the corners of the city where the sun does not shine. They are called inner city youth. They are labeled as delinquent kids. They steal things and sell drugs, but they are also hungry and hopeless. Sometimes they feel like they are abandoned by the world. 

 

There is a war going on in the streets. On one side of this war is the environment in which the inner city boys live, on the other side are people such as Colleen Adams who are trying to pull these young men back from the margins of society. 

 

Empowered Youth Inc. is a non-profit organization founded by Colleen Adams in 2006. For eight years, she and her volunteers have been devoting themselves to giving these youth an opportunity they never had and a future they never considered. The Left Turn records the transformation of two young men who have been helped by the program.
